The work of EuropeActive and the Professional Standards Committee
EuropeActive is a not-for-profit organisation representing the whole of the European health and fitness sector in Brussels. Our mission is to motivate people to embrace a lifelong active and healthy lifestyle. As part of this mission we have set ourselves the goal of achieving 80 million members of health and fitness centres by 2025. In this presentation, Julian Berriman the Director of the EuropeActive Professional Standards Committee will talk about his role in seeking to professionalise the European fitness sector workforce and how this contributes to overall goals of EuropeActive.
Bio:
Julian Berriman MA, BSc (Hons) Ost is the Director of EuropeActive’s Professional Standards Committee with responsibility for overseeing the development and review of EuropeActive’s Sector Qualifications Framework. These educational standards have been developed in wide consultation with the European fitness industry and are the basis for the accreditation of training providers and individual instructors and trainers across Europe, as part of the European Register of Exercise Professionals. Mr Berriman has worked within the fitness sector in the UK for more than 20 years and has directed both an industry-leading training provider and awarding organisation. Within these roles he has written, delivered and managed vocational qualifications at all levels. As a result, he has built a wealth of experience in the design and implementation of structures and processes that deliver the highest quality of vocational education and professional development.
